Yard Sale $3.00 Picture... worth what?

I visited my cousin in Florida last winter...they live in the Tampa area. It was amazing how many yard sales there are in that area, and at that time of year. Of course, the temperatures were still pretty warm, in the low 80's, but she said it was too chilly for her to get in the ocean (well...

    Baseball Beckett Monthly Magazine

Rob uses Ebay, too! I don't know why he was so enthusiastic about Beckett, since the only way he ever trades cards is on Ebay, or with online friends who do trading. Thanks, ranbethscards! What I'm going to point out to him is that other traders are in the tech age, too, and don't necessarily...

    Baseball Beckett Monthly Magazine

Does anyone here have a subscription to Beckett's? Would you recommend it as a good guide, or is there one that (in your opinion) is superior? A friend told me that there's not a better guide, and I might agree with him, but he was so smug about it. Can you give me a reason why another guide...

    Bought My First "Hot" Card

When I first read "hot" card--I immediately thought someone had sold you a stolen card...ha..ha...(actually that wouldn't be funny at all, sorry.) I understand your reluctance to get these specific cards. They might do nothing except eat a hole in your wallet.

    Post Your BEST Mistake card!

This would be great as a contest, too! But I don't know what the prize would be for the winner. Post your best mistake card....baseball, football, whatever you've got. It doesn't have to be a rookie card.....but you might want to point out the mistake. (supposed to say 1993)

    New to the Thread

I like the mistake cards, too, Lisa! I don't know how serious collectors feel about them, but to me, a mistake only makes it more interesting. Good to meet you! Can you spot the mistake here?

What would you suggest as a gift to a 10 year old Newbie?

He's just found out that one of his friends has a few cards. Apparently, the other little boy is quite enthusiastic over his mini collection, and it has sparked some enthusiasm on my nephew's part. What would be an inexpensive way to start this new hobby, to encourage it, but not to sink a lot...

    My TTM luck so far.

Hey, could you tell me what cards you might be interested in trading? Or what autographs you currently have? I'm interested in Jason Kidd memorabilia and willing to pay decent, but not outrageous. Thanks.

    Bought My First "Hot" Card

His photos, though, are pretty expensive! If you had an autographed Michigan State Spartans Fanatics Authentic 16" x 20" throw vs. Michigan photo, it's going for over $50 smackers.

    Cricket Trading Cards

They may only be valuable to you or to your children, or whoever you pass them along to. But they could always have sentimental value, right? And I'm thinking that when the players get older, as they retire, those cards might mean something to them in terms of monetary value. You might keep that...

    Any interest?

You mean, something like this one? What other Rookie Cards are you looking for? Or maybe I have the wrong player in the wrong slot. Let me know.

    Murderer Sports Cards

Do you think it is the fact that they are now an icon that contributes to the perception that even if they are suspected to be guilty, or found guilty, that the American fan base (or general public) loves their sports heroes so much that they will forgive them anything, even murder? I have...

*** ALLOWED! Member Ran Contest - a MUST read for all members

Can I ask what types of contests have been held in the past? What kind of restrictions (other than asking permission) would be on a contest? Generally, contest involve a main prize and require a lot of people to participate. Have the previous contests been successful, or have they received any...

Baseball Baseball Mail Day - Verlander and Scherzer!

The value really depends on how rare the card is, and then of course, what kind of condition it's in. The main reason baseball cards can be such great collectibles, is that it's the oldest organized American sport, and therefore has some of the oldest cards and other memorabilia.

    Baseball Albert Pujols

Pujols was voted Rookie of the Year not too long after he moved to the U.S. from the Dominican Republic. You don't hear that much about him in the news. Does that take value away from any memorabilia?

Baseball What is everyone looking for ?

Did you notice the member who was just asking about the value of this Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card? Wow. And then I find your post. This really is the place to get people together!

    Baseball value of baseball cards

Ebay shows this card: 1989 UPPER DECK #1 KEN GRIFFEY JR. STAR ROOKIE GEM MINT 10-- as selling for $600. I'm not sure of the specifics of your card, but it might be worth checking out? Because they've also got this one: 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. #1 (rookie) baseball card. Beckett 6.5...

When you watch football and basketball....

I personally enjoy football the most. And I'll tell you why, because it's not what you think. Football games are usually watched/played on Sunday afternoons. (I know I'm getting sidetracked, but WHY are they played on Sunday afternoons? Don't those guys get paid good money? Why aren't they...
