Cricket Trading Cards

I'm looking to purchase a batch of Cricket Trading Cards for my in-laws for Christmas. My question is, is it reasonable to assume that they can ever grow in value or should I just mark it off as a novelty item?

I figured I'd touch base in case anyone was interested. Where I work there is a huge amount of Indian IT Coders that are on Work Visas. I mentioned the cards in passing to one of the individuals who I work with regularly and it made it's way through the group of them. I was able to turn a decent profit on the packs that I had already bought, had enough time to order some more for the family members and even sell a couple extra I picked up.

I guess the value of the cards is strongly tied to who is trying to buy them.

They may only be valuable to you or to your children, or whoever you pass them along to. But they could always have sentimental value, right? And I'm thinking that when the players get older, as they retire, those cards might mean something to them in terms of monetary value. You might keep that in mind should you ever decide to advertise.
