RealGM: Basketball Wiretap Archives: Livingston Says His Knee Is Close To 100%

Shaun Livingston is getting a chance to resurrect his career with the Thunder.

Livingston suffered a serious knee injury in February 2007 and has been cut by both the Clippers and Heat since he began his return.

"I might not have the same quickness, lift and power that I had," Livingston told the Journal Star, "so I have to be a lot smarter out there on the court."

Livingston added that his knee is about 95 percent healthy, and his stamina is improving.

I really hope he can make the full comeback and contribute for OKC. It's terrible what happened to his career with that knee injury (one of the nastiest sports injuries I've ever seen). He has kept such a great attitude about the whole situation and has been truly dedicated to getting himself back in the league. If nothing else, you have to admire the kid's drive. Best of luck Shaun.

That's amazing, I remember seeing the vid of his injury. I never thought he'd play again in the NBA

Same here. I would post the video but that means I'd probably have to watch it at least one more time and I don't want to. OUCH!

he wont contribute. Jason williams tried it as well and never could recover.

way to be a debbie downer!

i'm hopeful that he can do something again. So unfortunate that he went down in a freak accident while playing the game. It's not like he was out doing something stupid. I really hope he contributes anything at all this year.

Completely different circumstances. Williams couldn't even make a roster when he tried to come back. Livingston has not only been signed by 2 different teams since coming back, but has actually seen action. He even averaged 8 points, 3 boards, and 2 assists in limited action with OKC last year, while he was playing with the injury still bothering him.

Yeah great guy shear determination. I agree with you guys that was horrible to watch it reminded me of the Theisman hit.

The circumstances may be different on how they got their injury. But its still an injury that affects how you play ball. In my personal opinion he wont make a dent on any team. He wont be a threat either. Im not putting the guy down, im just being a realist.

The fact that he acknowledges that he lost quickness, lift and power makes me think he will have trouble finding a role. I can't see him tuning into a stockton type game manager PG. I am glad to see him playing again, but he will be a shadow of his former self at best. He will forever live in YouTube infamy with nearly 200,000 views of his left leg folding like the Arena Football League.
