Wanting To Do a Vintage Baseball Set…Thoughts?

Also, why the affinity for Mantle, when the Yankees are not your team?
Actually, I hate the Yankees. But, when he passed away I was right at the peak of my childhood interest in sports. I remember collecting the 1996 Topps Mantle reprints and he was a big deal again. Because of that, I became really interested in him even though he played in his final game 17 years before I was born.

Plus, when it comes to baseball cards of the 1950s and 60s (which is the era I really like)...Mantle is the king.

Just now, I am reading a really interesting book about him.

So, I know I said I was going to wait and start this set down the road...well, that went out the window. The other day I purchased a nice small lot of 10 cards. No major starts, but they are all nicely centered and are EX. Highlights include Bobby Thomson and Eddie Yost.

I will get them scanned in the near future and post them for you guys to see.

I know it's not much, but with my Mantle...that gives me 11 cards in this set.
