WILKES-BARRE TWP. – Did Vince McMahon, who’s bluffed and blustered his way into the ringmaster’s role of the testosterone-fueled soap opera that is professional wrestling, really fall for the old bomb-in-the-limo trick?

Mid-Day Note: In search of Vince McMahon

Though World Wrestling Entertainment would have you believe otherwise, the answer is no.

“No one was in any danger,” said Steve Poremba of Monday night’s WWE RAW spectacle at the Wachovia Arena, though he would not elaborate until WWE had sent out a news release.

Despite articles on the wrestling federation’s Web site that firefighters and federal agents are investigating, workers at the Luzerne County 911 Center confirmed that it was “a stunt” and that no emergency vehicles were called to the arena on Monday night.

FBI officials have not yet returned a call.

But fans from across the country have been contacting local media to confirm reports that McMahon, the chairman of the board of WWE, was blown up in a fiery limo-bombing on his very own “Mr. McMahon Appreciation Night,” which was televised on USA Network. McMahon had walked out of the building to the waiting vehicle, so fans inside the arena saw the same televised live scene.

Only it was wasn’t live. Supervised by Zenith Pyrotechnology, based in Deer Park, N.Y., the explosion was actually filmed at the arena late Saturday night, the footage of the burning hulk taped Sunday night and the whole mess spliced together, said Andy Kratz, the township’s zoning officer.

“They did it, I believe, at 11 o’clock at night until 3 a.m. so no one would be around,” he said, adding that it was done in a section generally blocked from public view by the building and surrounding land features.

The pyrotechnics company had to get permits, which Kratz said they did about a week ago. “We have pyrotechnics shows in the arena all the time” for wrestling and ice skating, among other things, he said. “They say they do this quite a bit,” but usually not outside.

Representatives of the pyrotechnics company have not returned calls for comment.

The stunt seems to be part of an ongoing story of McMahon’s spiral into insanity, which wwe.com has been supporting with repeated updates of the faux-bombing story.

“Over the last few weeks on WWE programming, the swaggering, well-off billionaire seemed to unravel right before the eyes of millions. … Mr. McMahon even cited the looming of a “black cloud” last week – a cloud very similar to the post-combustive smoke that billowed above his limousine tonight,” the Web site reported. “The ominous reality is that what was brushed off as incoherent ramblings of a broken man and former ECW World Champion actually may have proven to be an exercising of a recently discovered sixth sense.”

WWE representatives have not yet returned a call for comment.

Yah it is so fake....go to WWE: Homepage and check out the video of the limo on fire. There is like 2 firemen and a camera man nonono if some one dies on the show it would not be televized. It makes me so mad that they have to set up fake deaths just to get ratings.

If you've been following the whole show and the whole storyline around Vince McMahon you knew something was going to happen.

He lost the ECW title and after that he went into a deep depression (his character now) and he went bipoloar (again his character). Also on last Fridays Smackdown he said he had visions of a big black cloud (hence the bomb). Monday was Vince McMahon appreciation night and they had a lot of people come on and say why they appreciate Vince and only about 2 people said somethin good about him. Thats why he commited *******.

Also like the article stated it was spliced together. Also WWE didn't have to **** someone off on TV to get ratings. There ratings are in the high 3's like 3.6-3.9 every week. And guess what this past edition of Raw did a 3.8. So it's not like this helped the ratings any.

Pathetic how this is what the youth of America has to watch and follow as their "sports" role models.

I guess it'll only guess worse before it gets better.

Umm is wasnt the youth who said stuff about him. It was celebrities and fellow wrestlers that said bad **** about him.

And you wanna talk about role models? How about the baseball stars that are juiced, how about the football players that go to jail every other day, or how about the basketball stars that ***** and moan because they don't get money. Yea those are really people to grow up and be your role models.

I'm not sayin all professional athletes are bad people because about 95% of them are good people. But you can't say that because of a storyline that its re****** that people watch the stuff or be there role models.

Also last I checked Vince McMahon was a "heel" which means hes hated so im sure the youth of america was really looking up to him. Plus Vince McMahon the person not the character has done more for charity and for a lot of stuff than these other commisioners have done. What has the NBA done for the troops or how about the NFL or the MLB? They promote what they do and say looky how great we are look what we do. Vince goes every year around Christmas time to Iraq and puts on a show for the troops and do you ever hear anything about it? No they just go over there like its another tour and enjoy themselves. You don't see any WWE Cares commercials do you? No. And all the troops, from what I've seen, there favorite thing is when WWE goes over there. So you wanna sit here and knock at how bad WWE is and blah blah blah and how ridiculous the storylines are. Well you kno what why dont you take a second and step back and realize the good that the WWE does not what there storylines consist of.

Also when was the last time Ryan Zimmerman did anything for charity or for the troops? Yea exactly.

dont bring the NBA into this stat man, they have done more charity work everywhere than WWE has done. Plus what the ryanzimmerman guy meant was that if you choose your role model as somebody who takes money from violence, senless violence non the less they are not that smart.

Lets keep it clean and civil, we will respect each others opinion's!

Now my opinion

It's wrestling...it's fake......it's not worth arguing over.

If you want to discuss wrestling will Brands have what it takes to take the team back to were it was when Gable left. Can Sanderson prove the better in the Big 12 over John Smith. That is wrestling.

If that isn't what your into lets discuss when does Hughes get the title back, who wins in Pulver vs Penn.

The MMA fighters, collegiate and Olympic wrestlers are real athlete's that know what it takes to condition, train and step in the ring or on the mat, these athlete's earn what they get, it's not in a script behind the scenes.
