My Custom Sports Card Creations

So, been super busy lately and haven't designed much of anything. Here is a quick one I did because of the draft. I'm not sure what I think of him...but was the #1 pick so I figured I should do something.

OK, here are a couple more I did with the draft in mind:

This next one I decided to do just this morning and it ended up being a pretty quick one. I wasn't going to do a card for the #3 pick...just for the first two. But, because one of our members here is a huge Jets fan...I figured he'd appreciate a Sam Darnold design. So, here it is.

Here's a couple more.

The first one is my creation for my Panthers 1st overall pick. Made in the same design as I did for the 2017 pick.

Up next is one I had on my list for some time. I really enjoyed watching former Oregon QB Vernon Adams Jr. play in the East-West Shrine Game a few years back. I planned on making a Shrine Game version of the 1990 Pro Set Pro Bowl card...using my "O Set" logo. To be honest, when I was working on it I didn't love the design and considered shelving it...but by the end I really liked how it turned out.

One more for now. This was a quick tribute to Albert Pujols for joining the 3000 hit club.

Love the card! First rate as usual. Have high hopes for this guy. Thrilled with what we have done so far this year, between the Draft, and Free Agency, I think we have improved tremendously, and should make a good showing. However, I will hopefully be more positive about that statement come January. I'm torn as to whether I would prefer to see Darnold start sometime this year, or let him sit behind, and learn from McGown for the year(or most of it) to learn. I really think McGown will be a great mentor, and a powerful influence on him. See you in the playoffs!:cigar:

I think he has a lot of potential. He was amazing in 2016 and less so in 2017...but has a lot of talent. He needs to work on protecting the football better, but I think he has the most upside of any QB from this years draft.

OK, so here is the next one I have finished. I've been super busy with work so I haven't had a lot of time. But, here is the next card from my Braves set. This card features the only player to play for the Braves in all three of their cities.

Here's the next two in my Braves set.

This first one is my all time favorite baseball player.

wow.. nice.. love the "Boston Milwaukee Atlanta" on the cards!
Thanks. If you look close, you will notice that specific cities are highlighted on different cards. For instance...on the Glavine and Cox cards only Atlanta stands out while on the Mathews all three cities do. This is a subtle way I am highlighting which cities a given player played in.

OK, here are a few more that I have been working on.

This first one I should have done a couple months ago and kept getting side tracked with real world stuff (you know...family, job, second job, ect.) and it just never got done. Well, it finally did.

Next up is my first hockey card. Because the Capitals finally won the Stanley Cup...I thought I should do a card. Plus, the image of Ovi holding the Cup screaming with a missing front tooth (tooth #9 for any other dentists in the audience) and lumberjack beard was too much to pass up. When I think classic hockey cards...I think 1979 Topps. So, here it is.

Up next, continuing work on my Braves set, I have two others to post.

OK, so here are a handful more that I have been working on. Also...I have a question for you guys.

I am in the process of working on a new design. Basically, it will be a MLB Legends themed card...and I plan to make a bunch of them. My original plan was to simply roll it into my "random card" sets and number them along the way...making the first card in the set #136. However, I have been thinking about making it its own set...starting with #1. I don't know how many I will eventually make...but probably quite a few. Should it be its own set?

OK, now for the new cards.

The first one might seen a little unusual for me...as I am a die hard Oregon Ducks fan. But, I take pride in the success of other schools in the state. As many of you know Oregon State just won the College World Series in large part on the pitching of a freshman. He became the first pitcher in CWS history to earn 4 wins in one series. So, I did a card to commemorate his performance.

Up next is another completely new design. As a kid, I have a vivid memory of the 1987 Topps baseball set. It was produced a little before my time, but somehow we managed to find a ton of them. The wood boarders are a striking memory to me.

Because of that, I decided to do a 1987 Topps themed card of my favorite childhood baseball player. It only made sense to do a card design strongly associated with my childhood of a player also strongly associated with my childhood. So, here it is/

Finally, here are a new more cards from my K-Mart Braves set.

I like the idea of a separate (new) set for the MLB Legends cards. As for the rest of the latest cards, I think they look great, as usual!

OK, a separate set it is then. This is the result. I have been working on this one for the last couple days

So, I have found a great fondness for the colorful 1980s glossy issues. My 40,000 Yard Club set is based on the 1989 Topps football glossy inserts. My Braves set is based on the 1987 Topps K-Mart glossy set. It's probably not surprising that I would be drawn to another 1980s glossy set for this project as well.

So, I have based this set on the 1987 Fleer Limited Edition Baseball glossy issue. So, here it is.

Here's the next one in my Major League Legends set.

Just for fun...I'll let the members here pick card #3 in this set. The first person to suggest a player for the set will pick the player!
