Bench Warmer
most of you know we have a semi pro hockey team up here. Well we've made it to the Kelly Cup Finals playing the South Carolina Stingrays.
Last night was game 1 of the best of 7 series.
First period we were a little shaky because of nerves and we were shaking off rink rust from being off for 8 days. Second period was a little better and the 3rd absolutely sucked. our guys were chasing the puck everywhere. SC just played keep away from us (on Olympic size ice, we tired fast) We totally hung out our goalie and ended up losing 4-2 (one was an empty netter)
The refs gave SC a penalty shot when the guy took a shot and than was brought down. Our goalie almost made me pee myself because he lunged out and poke checked the puck away from the guy with his stick and he was easily 20 ft from the net. And than we had a goal called off when the replay showed it went over the line. Our goal judge asked for a police escort from the arena, after that.
Tonight is game 2 and than games 3, 4 and 5 (if necessary) are in South Carolina. Talk about playing hockey on the other side of the US.
so root for my boys tonight and hope I get to see them one more time after tonight.
