Dan Parr, from ProFootballWeekly.com, reports the Saints have yet to sign a veteran backup for QB Drew Brees, as the uncapped year's "final eight" rule has limited their options in free agency. New Orleans cannot sign an unrestricted free agent until another team signs one of the Saints' unrestricted free agents. Sources say the team is still interested in signing a veteran backup and may do so July 22, when the "final eight" signing restrictions end. The only other quarterbacks on the roster are second-year player Chase Daniel and rookie seventh-round pick Sean Canfield. Mark Brunell, who turns 40 in September, was Brees' top backup for the past two seasons and remains available. Other free agents on the Saints' radar who could still be available in late July include Josh McCown and Patrick Ramsey.
