I do not get it. Leinart has played alright in the preseason. Leinart is 19/23 with 161 yrds, 82% completion rate and a QB rating of 110.3 Anderson is 31/53 with 287 yrds and535 completion rate and a QB rating of 70.2.
So from the preseason stats Leinart should be the starting QB. I think this is all smoke and mirrors but if he does get traded I hope it is to a good west coast offence were he will fit into the system.

Giants reported that the Cards called them because Sorgi is out for the season, they discussed briefly and the Giants have no interest in a heavily overpaid backup.

Here's what I've seen go down so far:
1) Whisenhunt doesn't like the down-field element of his offense being taken away. Leinart's skill set doesn't really cater to this with his sub-par arm strength, and he doesn't want to change an effective offense very much. Anderson probably isn't his first choice, but he has no other option with experience, so he pretty much has to make a gut decision here and move forward.
2) It's not about one pre-season apparently. It's Whisenhunt looking at 4 years of time and development, and not seeing the kind of return he wants on that invested time. Plus if I recall correct, Leinart was a Dennis Green regime pick, so he feels less of a burden in keeping him to prove anyone right or wrong.
3) As has been said, Leinart makes a lot of money. If Whisenhunt is not starting the guy, the Bidwells would love to move that cash out and apply that to the Dockett extension they just inked the other day. Smart move getting him locked up long term, btw.
That's how I see it. And for the record, I still don't like USC.

sucks he got cut. I hope he gets picked up and can contribute somewhere. I just do not see how Anderson is an upgrade all this does is free up money but there is no cap this year so who cares.

ya 1 yr deal. from what I read he took the first offer made to him he just wanted to get on a team and did not want to deal with waiting. He is 3rd string but will get moved up to second if he picks the offense up fast enough.
