Not bad for a guy coming off a 4 year layoff from a degenerative knee condition that could one day leave him without the ability to walk. Anyone that know's Bender's story knows what kind of potential he had coming out of HS. I thought the Pacers hit the jackpot when we traded Antonio Davis for the rights to the #5 pick (Bender), but year after year, and surgery after surgery, his knees could never hold up. He was as athletic as any player we've seen in the past 10 years and stood 6'11" and had a 3-point shot. I really wish the guy could've been born with better knees. If so, he might be one of the most exciting players in the NBA and my Pacers could definitely use a little excitement.
