Don't expect Larry Johnson to play in Week 10.

Johnson's agent said late Thursday afternoon the running back will not sign with a new team before Monday.

"We're going to let this weekend's games happen and go from there," agent Peter Schaffer said. "We're making good progress with some teams. But we're not going to rush into a bad deal. We'll see what happens Monday. If he isn't signed by Monday, then we'll continue to monitor the situation."

The Kansas City Chiefs released Johnson on Monday, the day he was due back from his second suspension in the past 12 months. Johnson was suspended for posting a gay slur on his Twitter account and questioning the competence of head coach Todd Haley.

Johnson went unclaimed Tuesday, making him an unrestricted free agent and the Chiefs must pay him the balance of the $2.1 million left on his contract this season.

Johnson, who turns 30 in a week, was averaging 2.7 yards per carry this season. Johnson winds up his Chiefs career with 5,996 yards rushing and 55 touchdowns. He also caught 151 passes for 1,369 yards and six TDs.
