Jake Locker to return for senior season

Why? Isn't he the potential #1 pick in the draft playing for a Washington team that has no chance to do anything of any significance next year?

I think it's a good move personally and honestly, one I saw coming. Locker chose Washington when he could have gone just about anywhere. He's a home grown boy. UW showed flashes of greatness this year which no one has seen for years. I have no doubt he wants to finish what he has started.

He stays healthy and I bet he is a top 10 pick come 2011.

Yes he was.

UW will likely be improved from this season. I've heard their receivers dropped a ton of passes. Maybe Locker coming back allows them to contend for the Pac-10 Title.

He will be a top 10 pick in 2011... likely the No. 1 pick, barring a major step backward next season.

Or he could have a horrible season, have his knee explode, have his arm get caught in a blender.

Any top 10 pick is really risking their future to go back to college for another season. Huge risk to very little reward (monetary wise).

Exactly.

See: Bradford, Sam

Not to mention the looming lockout and potential rookie salary cap (similar to that of the NBA).

On topic, I hope Locker stays healthy. Would hate to see another Bradford type of story. Then no QB will ever come back again. Seriously.

Wouldn't shock me if UW's strong last game + Clausen declaring influenced him going this direction...

The Pac-10 will be stacked again next year. Lot of returning star talent that contributed this year. Washington has some tough road games next year, so Locker will have to strap this team on his back again:
@ BYU
@ USC
@ Cal
@ Arizona
@ Oregon

But they'll likely be on the big stage, which is a right-sized gamble for him to cement top pick status.

There is only one stacked league and it is not the Pac 10. ESPN says it is SEC and thus it is.

Dumb move by Locker. It may help him develop long term, but injury risk is too high with all of that money there
