Halloween Fun!! šŸŽƒ

Here are a few silent films from back in the day, the first three horror classics!

Nosferatu (1922) is the first and closest film adaptation to the original Bram Stoker Dracula novel, it is restored and looks GREAT!

Lon Chaney, Sr. in his breakthrough role as the Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923):

Lon Chaney, Sr. again in his most famous role as the Phantom of the Opera (1925)!

Talk about perfect timing! I went to a neighbor's yard sale this afternoon, and found a bag of horror VHS tapes for a friend who collects them....for a buck apiece, half price since today's their last day!

A few classics from the original Universal Monsters Classic Collection, who remembers these videotapes??

The backs were almost a cool as the fronts!!

I just gave those VHS tapes to my colleague who collects, she was very excited to get them, saying her husband loves the old time monsters! I said that I picked them up for a buck at the yard sale, and I remember collecting those as a child, I was 10 in 1991 when Universal first re-released the early movies in the Classic Collection. My grandmother would take me shopping at the mall (she went like 4 times a week!) and would always take me to Sears, where there was a tech section featuring videotapes. I think those were $14.99 back in the day, which is a ton of money for that time, but I watched those movies hundreds of times!

Cheers!

Walking around a local downtown and found a horror museum. Thereā€™s a whole history of ouija board all the way back to the late 1800ā€™s but Iā€™m going to play it safe no pics. lol

Have these to share though

Fun fact for you allā€¦in a former life I was an independent film producer. If youā€™re up for a zombie buddy comedy, check it out.
@AndyDrummond

Looked the movie up....you have your own IMDB entry!! I had no idea you were moviemaking royalty! Will have to check Dead Heads out, how cool! How did you end up getting involved?

Cheers!

Lolā€¦I wouldnā€™t go royalty. The Pierce brothers who directed it are childhood friendsā€¦.I was basically their only friend who had some business sense, so they pulled me out to California to run their company.

Fun fact, their movie ā€œThe Wretchedā€ was the #1 movie in the country during COVID because it was playing at drive in theatersā€¦.they were up for Oscar consideration because of it.

Wow, how cool is that! What an awesome story, I remember the Wretched being super popular during Covid.

Neat that those guys are your longtime friends, too!

So this weekend I rewatched the original Dracula:

And Wolf Man:

Chaney Jr also donned the cape, this one was odd to see as an adult:

Much creepier than I remember as a kid!

Then I dug into a few of the no-no movies from when I was a kid, the English Hammer movies. Not gonna lie, they were pretty rough and risque.

Christopher Lee played Dracula 8 times, and I felt like the least wooden performance was given by the stake in his vampire heart!

Peter Cushing was in a ton of Hammer movies too, pictured here with Lee:

I remember Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing from their roles in these classic movies:

Lee was Count Dooku in Attack of the Clones, a clear homage to the role that made him famous!
