From 1986-1998 he hit 401 Home Runs with 6611 At Bats
From 1999-2007 he hit 345 Home Runs with 3153 At Bats

After 12 years in the league, when most are on the back nine of the career, he starts hitting better----stronger? Lets keep in mind how many times hes been walked as well through both of those era's, and the time when he was walked the most, he still hit more HR? Interesting how that worked out for him......

a. it was not a rule in MLB until 2004, and there was no testing at the time there either.
b. Mike Webster is in the Hall of Fame and that is the argument they want to use to keep Mark McGwire out. even though he has never tested positive for steroids.

If it was not such an important record, or held by a man who overcame so much to break it, we really wouldn't care about this. Sadly, since baseball has chosen to ignore it, there will not be any 'asteriks' in the record books. I am glad Hank chose to make a speach when he busted it, nice on his part to just help everything and one move on. IMO, though, in 6 years Arod will be topping Barry's number so all is not lost
