How is there any debate on Warner in the HOF?

I'll play devil's advocate and argue that when he was bad, he was REAL bad. He disappeared for awhile there. Personally, I think he should get in though.

I think he wins and he's a lock, he loses and he's a nominee with a good chance of getting in. He's taken two pathetic franchises to the big game. The only knock is his career has a big lull in the middle of his successes. 9 years between bowls is a long time and if he gets this one it is a massive star on his resume.

He played like crap for a while there, how is that not his fault?
2002 was bad. He was injured a lot, though. He had thumb and pinkie issues, which hampered his ability to grip the ball. Not an excuse, but a partial reason for his poor play.

Then, Mike Martz kept him in opening day 2003 after apparently suffering a concussion. He was out after that and Marc Bulger took over. He was unceremoniously run out of St. Louis by Martz and the Ram front office, as they were totally in love with Bulger. His time in NY was forgettable (terrible fit there, minimal offensive talent). He finally came back when he got somewhere that used his skills correctly.

Warner is a HOF'er. He probably won't get in on the first ballot, but he will get in.

Speaking of HOF (I'm sure there's already a thread for this), I'm happy Derrick Thomas finally got it. It was long overdue.

Not convinced. This year his WR core made him look better than he was in my opinion. Thought he played very well today though. May get in but not a certainty I think.
