West Virginia has reinstated leading receiver Jock Sanders six months after a drunken-driving arrest in Morgantown.
Sanders, who practiced with the team Saturday, led the Mountaineers last season with 53 catches for 462 yards and seven touchdowns.
"It's the right thing to do," coach Bill Stewart said. "It needed to be done to get this behind him."
Stewart said Sanders' behavior off the field will be closely watched and that the junior could still face discipline for the Feb. 7 incident, including sitting out a game -- possibly the season opener against Liberty.
"He's on a very short leash," Stewart said.
Sanders had a blood-alcohol level of 0.125 percent, above the legal limit of 0.08, when he was pulled over, according to a criminal complaint.
Charges that include underage drunken driving, speeding and driving left of the center line will be dropped under a plea agreement that requires Sanders complete a six-week alcohol education class and use of a device that disengages his car if he has been drinking.
Sanders also ran into trouble in March 2008.
Sanders and three other players pleaded no contest to a battery charge stemming from fight outside a nightclub in Morgantown. They agreed to community service and paid $250 fines.
