Hi,

I read some of the articles saying that BGS 9.5 is similar to a PSA 10 suggesting BGS is better (or tougher!)

However other articles suggest BGS often updrades some cards when crossed over from PSA and as such they are not consistent. For example see Was Beckett's BGS 10 Jordan a Publicity Stunt?

Others say SGC and others are better and also have the benfit of having more reasonably priced slabbing.

So what do you think? I thought I would ask on here as I know many of you will have first hand personal experience. I would also be interested if you could say why you feel that card grader is better and particularly if you have any first hand experiences of having cards re-graded by another company.

Thanks

Gold labels just look so sweet.

I think Beckett is better recognized & better trusted. Seems like they have been around forever. I do not like the prices to get cards graded. That is why I have not sent in any myself. I have bought a few graded cards and liked the slabs very much. I do have a personnal theory, that some graders can be corrupt and get might get kickbacks if they know the person sending in the cards. Lets face reality, there are bad seeds everywhere.. even in government jobs, sports, all the way down to the busdrivers and liquer store owners.

I would buy BGS or PSA over anybody else. I've read and seen no-name grading companies pop up everywhere online. Some collectors that think they can make a quick buck off of us. We all think we can grade cards.

BHELSER is correct.

By overall toughest grade, I believe that has to go to SGC, IMO.

Their version of "10" is a 98. The toughest grade is a 100.

I remember talking about this with come card dealers at a card show...

Thanks guys, your views have been very helpful. As most of my cards tend to be modern I guess BGS is the way to go.

I guess it depends on what you are trying to do with them. I've been out of the collecting loop for a while now, so I am not sure which grading service has the best resell value.(If that is your goal that is) Personally, I've always liked PSA, as BGS has always seemed like a conflict of interest to me.
