Hey friends, just wondering what keeps everyone coming back to the hobby? Collecting for me has ebbed and flowed over the years, as life has changed for me during that time. I started with a ttm hobby at 11 years old in 1992 writing to classic Hollywood performers, and then got into basketball, then baseball and football. I have acquired and sold 3 major collections over the past 32 years, mostly to fund travel (my main hobby!)

I think I keep coming back (collecting WWII signatures primarily now) because, well, it's just fun! Great people surround us here, and it's awesome to make friends who enjoy this as well.

So.....what keeps you coming back??

Really enjoy that. I love collecting for the enjoyment of getting the cards that mean a lot to me. Been collecting basketball for the past few years and really enjoy it. Hoping to meet new friends in the hobby.

Welcome to SCC, friend! Happy to have you here, and so glad you are collecting for the sheer enjoyment of it! Lots of great folks here, I am sure you will be right at home!

Cheers!

Kevin

Sure the h3ll not the prices, 😂. I'd have to say the design and how many of them can relate back to childhood and adulthood relations.

Some examples of insert sets for me are:

2024 Topps Blueprints
2024 Bowman Level Up
2024 Topps Chrome Inside the Park
Downtowns and City Connects are always really nice as well.

Really like the designs of these and and can relate to them on different levels. Also the companies are doing a good job at the refractor level technologies as well. A lot of nice products as we push forward. Let's all hope Fanatics can keep it going.

All the best,

John

@Mechjo16

John, so glad you are enjoying the products, and agreed, prices are insane!! Technology is for sure top notch, I'm with you, I also hope Fanatics does a fine job making the next era of cards fun for every collector out there!

Cheers!

Kevin

I’m with John, the prices are getting crazy…however, some of my best memories as a kid are going to card shows with @Waltdii and we still talk cards at least a few times a week. I think it’s a great way to stay more connected to the players/teams you love, especially since we’re not waking up and looking at box scores in a newspaper anymore. Most of all, it’s the people who we all interact with on a daily basis here on the site and elsewhere. In a world that is becoming more disconnected, I think our passion for cards keeps us in a positive community.
