Tony Scheffler has been traded to the Lions as part of a 3-team trade.

The Eagles get LB Ernie Sims from the Lions and the Broncos get an undisclosed draft pick. For now, we don't think this is an indictment of Brandon Pettigrew.

I really don't like this trade. We don't need another TE. We need Ernie Sims.

Maybe the Lions are going after Rocky McIntosh.

Denver ends up with a 5th rounder. I'm hoping they take a TE early in the coming draft. Good depth out of that group for early day value.

The Lions should be able to run a mean 2 TE set with him and Pettigrew, which should also enable them to run the ball more effectively. Not sure why they were in such a hurry to move Sims though.

AND the Lions and Tony have agreed to NOT work out a new contract. wtf? Can someone more intelligent explain to me why the Lions would want that?

My only guess is his injury riddled 2009 season, along with the fact he is entering the final year of his contract. Chances are, he wouldnt have resigned with them anyways. Tony Scheffler has a better chance of resigning with them because he is Michigan born and raised.

If he wasn't so injury prone, I would have let him play out the year and see what could be gotten in terms of a compensatory pick once he walked in free agency. However, that would be a 2 year process, and for head coaches in Detroit, that's probably no guarantee, so they decided to sell a bit short to get immediate compensation.

Anyone else find it kinda funny that McDaniels managed to send everyone he traded home, literally? (Cutler - Chicago/Indiana area, Marshall - Florida, now Scheffler - Michigan).

Sims never really fit into Schwartz system. He is on the last year of his deal, and was more or less second string and Pettigrew will not be healthy to start the season. Its worth the gamble for the Lions.

ill have to wait to see what Sims does before i list exq...with the $0.50 listing and 15% FVF, im a little more stingy...i think i have 7 left :shifty:
