In one of the most incredible, shocking and epic salary dumps in the history of big-money professional sports, the Marlins’ wretched ownership and front office traded every impact player they still had, with the exception of Stanton, to the Blue Jays.

In a blockbuster deal with Toronto, Miami will reportedly send shortstop Jose Reyes and starters Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle, along with catcher John Buck and utility man Emilio Bonifacio to the Blue Jays. The Marlins are reportedly going to receive a haul of Toronto's young players and four top prospects, including shortstops Adeiny Hechavarria and Yunel Escobar, pitchers Henderson Alvarez, Anthony DeSclafani and Justin Nicolino and outfielder Jake Marisnick. FOXSports.com first reported the deal on Twitter.

He swindled the city of Miami into building him a publicly funded stadium. In return, he duped the team’s fans last winter by spending like the sky was the limit. He even made runs at first baseman Albert Pujols and left-hander C.J. Wilson in an attempt to convince the public the franchise suddenly was serious about spending for talent and, in turn, winning.

Well, the trade did happen and Reyes is now a Blue Jay. Weird, I must say. Does it look like Toronto may actually be going for the whole enchilada this year? At least they are a team to be reckoned with if they can overcome all those prospects they traded away. Somehow or another the fish always seem to play tough with nothing but Wal-Mart salaried players. I am ready for pitchers and catchers.

It appears that they weren't done yet!

DeRosa gets $775,000, 1-year deal from Blue Jays
By The Associated Press

Mark DeRosa has agreed to a $775,000, one-year contract with Toronto, giving the Blue Jays more infield and outfield depth as they try for their first playoff berth since 1993.

DeRosa gets a $750,000 salary this year under Tuesday's deal, and the Blue Jays have a $750,000 option for 2014 with a $25,000 buyout.

The 37-year-old hit .188 with five doubles and six RBIs in 48 games last season for the Washington Nationals, playing all four infield positions and both corner outfield spots.

He has a .270 average with 93 homers and 458 RBIs in 15 seasons with Atlanta (1988-04), Texas (2005-06), the Chicago Cubs (2007-08), Cleveland (2009), St. Louis (2009), San Francisco (2010-11) and Washington.

Right-hander Sam Dyson was designated for assignment to clear a roster spot.
