The Ovichicken remark is not meaning he is a chicken... just a saying..

You made some points, and I will just end my discussion on the note that they are both great players.. I just think Crosby is the better player now and will last longer in the league.

I know what you mean about the saying, sometimes I call him, Ove-Checkin when he's on a rampage hitting people.

no, its not meant in a good way... LOL

Put it this way, I actually hope he hurts himself trying to hurt someone else. Cause if you watched the Pens games last year and this year, he clearly goes out of his way to try to hurt Malkin. I loved it when Malkin ducked and Ovichicken went face first into the boards, too bad he did not break his nose..

I play hockey every year and to me if I miss a check and hurt myself oh well its part of the game I can remember one year when I went to check someone he got out of the way just in time in the process I cracked two ribs on the top of the boards ....it is all part of the game when your on the ice it is a different mood set I have been in the top ten scorers for the past five years ......just because I am a goal scorer doesn't mean I don't go out and hit it is all part of being a well rounded player.......as far as going out of my way to hit Malkin I would do so more than hitting a not so talented player....for the reason of him being so talented ......when I say hit I mean clean hit and not getting a penalty.......

I hear ya, but I dont agree with you at all. I played the game myself for 18 years. I wont talk about my accomplishments, but lets just say that when I played, there was more respect for the other players than Ovichicken displays. I can tell you this, if he or anyone else ever tryed to hurt me, (and that is exactly what the chicken boy was trying to do to Malkin) I dont think he would have made it through the game with the ability to walk..

I think the debate should end here, cause we have way different opinions on the matter. Plus I could tell by your "I play the game" that you thought because you play your opinion has more validity.

I played, coached and refereed the game of Hockey at a very high level.
But you know what, it really does not matter when you are expressing an opinion. Bottom line, If Ovechkin is you player than you will defend him. I respect that. But to use logic that Crosby slashed someone on the back of the legs in the same breath that Ovechkin is taking 8 strides and leaving his skates to hit Malkin, well....thats just plain stupid. I have seen every Pens game since Crosby came into the league...He has never, and I mean never intentionally tried to hurt anyone.

I say again, I long for the day that Ovechkin hurts himself trying to hurt another player..

taking eight strides is Charging and is not a clean hit......therefore deserves to get a penalty plus whatever during the game.....I do not condone dirty hits ......like I said earlier if it is a clean hit and you take someone out it is a clean hit.......but a dirty hit is a dirty hit and deserves everything they get......but in saying so I have seen both of them get dirty hits and Both give dirty hits......I do not defend anyone if they are in the wrong they are in the wrong......this convo could go on and on I always appreciate hockey talk and different point of views........I stated I play the game not for a validity in an opinion but to refer to a missed hit and injury to myself in an effort to give an example of intensity while playing.....

come on come on can you get any dirtier than a two handed stick across the head....lol....remember the two hander on Brasher by McSorley.....even though I really dislike Brasher that was something else.....and the kick by Simon and let us not forget the clothes line by him also.......those are dirty hits hockey is a fast game got to keep that head up at all times.....I also find a lot of players are now turning their backs on the play just so that the opposing player will get a penalty in that case I find very stupid and if they get hurt I say oh well.......and shall call them ..DUM DUM...lol

I would not say Pronger is a master of the dirty hit the sandwhich hit was so so it only looked bad because another player hit at the same time and that elbow was also not that bad I felt it was embelished and he should of kept his head up Pronger is a big guy so when he goes for the hit he can't help but get those arms up in the head area......that is just my opinion....Hollweg on the other hand blindside hits which is dirty and can really hurt someone one day....

I dont approve on hits from behind. Pronger has done this numerous times. Thankfully without serious incident. Sure its awesome to see a hit connect, I like it as much as the next guy, but a hit from behind is cowardly and defenceless, I've seen many a junior have CAREERS taken away from them before they even get a chance to start.
