Santana Update

Kershaw, LaRoache & Billingsley (maybe another, Tony Abreu ?) for Santana
Not a chance. Billingsley is going no where, the Dodgers don't want to be stuck with Nomar at 3B and Kershaw is a lock for the rotation in 2009.

Penny
Billingsley
Kershaw
Lowe (FA after this season)
Schmidt

Tough to beat that starting five. Plus, Ben Sheets and C.C. Sabathia are FAs after the season (as of now). Hell, they could even sign Hiroki Kuroda to fill a rotation spot.

I don't think the Dodgers were ever truly in the Santana race. The Dodgers have premium young talent. The problem is, most of the guys teams are asking for are key components of the Major League club (Kemp, Loney, Billingsley, Broxton).

I could see the Angels keeping Santana away from the Yanks and Sox, but they could still use a bat. The Sox will probably stand pat if they don't land Johan and the Yanks could make a run at Dan Haren.

I honestly don't want him to go the Yankees any more, but I also think Boston could be bluffing:lollol:

However, if he does go to Boston I suggest the Yanks sign every single free agent next year and tell the rest of the league that they can have their players back when they start playing fair:pop:

Huh?

The Twins have lowered their demands, and say they don't need Kennedy and would do a deal based around Melky and Hughes

Something gives me a bad feeling about this, as I can easily see Hank accepting this deal. Don't get me wrong, I would love Santana, but there's something about getting younger that I like a little better for the Yanks.

It's still a steal for the Yanks. If I'm the Red Sox, Angels or Dodgers, I try to jump in on this now.

I know you like the prospect of the Yankees getting younger, but to get the best pitcher in baseball while giving up only one Blue Chipper is a no-brainer for the Yanks or any team.

I hope the Twins get more. They need impact, MLB ready characters. I just don't think too highly of Melky. I can't see him being a standout, but maybe I'm wrong.

Dodgers or Angels need to offer the farm  for Johan. I'll cry if he goes to the Yanks
