Just to summarize up the whole thing here:

Mike Illitch, owner of the Detroit Red Wings (1985), Detroit Tigers (1992), and founder of Little Ceaser's, and various other venues, has a negotiation window with the current owner Mrs. Davidson to buy the Pistons and Palace Sports (the Palace and Meadowbrook music theater basically). The sale would like to be completed by opening night (10/27).

Illitch will be the second owner to ever own 3 of the 4 major sport franchises at one time, the other was Ted Turner when he owned the Hawks, Braves, and Thrashers (all based in Atlanta).

Note: The Red Wings are looking to move out of/renovate the Joe, meaning they could play at the Palace hypothetically speaking.

Also Note: Illitch can not own the Lions due to a NFL rule allowing an owner to not be able to own any other teams in other sports.
