Prince Fielder could be traded

Rumor is the Brewers offered him a 5 year, $100 million contract extension, and his agent turned it down. The Brewers are unlikely to offer higher, and may be forced to trade Fielder before the trade deadline this season, or during the off season.

Personally, I could care less. Besides homeruns, he doesnt do much. Albert Pujols has never dipped below 300, and he is currently in a 7 year, $100 million contract. Maybe we can get some nice prospects for Fielder, and sign someone else who is productive.

I also agree on a cap. Its not fair that big market teams have the luxury to buy players, while everyone else has to rely on grooming their own. Then when a team doesnt have enough to keep said players, they lose them to the big market teams. Thats why I enjoy the NFL. A team might have a run of a few good years, then a new team steps up. For baseball, it seems its just the Yankees.

Baseball needs to change to the cap so all teams have a shot to win not just a select few teams. Also they need to redo divisons.

Baseball is one of the only sports where the worst team generally wins 35-40% of its games...... very level from top to bottom. 17 teams right now have a legit shot at the playoffs. A few teams have no shot to advance, but that's just tough for them.

Pujols gave STL a home town discount when he signed his last contract. His next contract will be more than A-Rod.

Scott Boras is Fielder's agents and he is already comparing Fielder to Texiera. Fielder doesn't have the glove Texiera has, but he will try to get him Texiera money.

It did take them 9 years to win a World Series title. Looking at the payrolls this year, the 29th ranked team is the NL West Division leading San Diego Padres.

I probably already would have if they lost Wednesday.

I kind of eluded to it a couple times in other blog postings. I'm feeling a new sense of optimism, which I'm sure will be crushed in 8 days.

Taking a closer look at the schedule, I can see why in terms of optimism. With a bad road record team like the Mets in town for 3 more, then facing up with San Diego for 3, ground could be made up pretty quickly before the deadline. If things went right, maybe they cut the Padres' lead in half.

The Giants series in the final 2 days of the deadline doesn't change their trade position, since Colletti and co. should already know what kind of ground they'll need to make up before then (and if it's worth doing). Six days for the whole season :shock:
