I have been keeping up with awbern's coaching search. It is a train wreck that makes the search when we hired Franchione look awesome. A ton of guys have turned down the job/denied interest/etc. So now, the rumor is................................

Nice going.....fire a coach for winning 5 games, giving him over $5 million to get him to go away, and then hire a coach who has won 5 games in TWO YEARS as a head coach.

This is an interesting approach to program improvement. Haven't seen too many schools try it this way. Maybe he was just really prepared for the job interview. :)

On a semi-related note, I bet Tyrone Willingham is pumped about this story. After all, I think he has roughly 5 wins in the last 2 years. He'll be back on the coaching scene in no time.

Well, one thing that Chizick has proven is that he can win games as a head coach. Early in this season, ISU beat the ever living hell out of South Dakota State, and followed that game with a thorough beating of Kent State.

However, losing the next 10 games by an average of 17 points kinda took the luster out of those wins.
 
Yeah I think 0 wins in the conference over the last 2 years if I heard right. Should be a little easier in a lesser conference like the sec.LOL I woulda def took the money and run as well. Wasnt he a coordinator at Texas when they won it? Not sure I think that was the word. Yeah Stef it should be great news for a Bama fan for ur top rival to get that fella. I really don't think it woulda mattered as long as Saban stays at Bama. You all def have a great thing going. Congrats again on a steller year
 
Chizick's contract worth $2 mil, buy out was $750,000.

So they paid close to $6 million in buyouts to hire a complete dud. My favorite quote on an au board is "We needed a big splash, and we got a fart in a bathtub" :lollol:

Most au fans feel like they just got Chizzed on :shifty:
 
Can Iowa State get a coaching upgrade and hire Tuberville then?

Some of these coaching selections have been questionable at best.
