Nov 8th Sunday Football

to me the push to move Favre out of town started in 2005 with the drafting of Ted Thompson's boy Aaron Rodgers. The writing was on the wall in GB after that pick, and Thompson wanted to make sure that his guy had every opportunity to become the man. That is business as usual in the NFL, so Favre did what he had to as a victory to old guys everywhere.

Only problem with your above theory is that Green Bay was not that high on Rodgers, and they gave Favre every chance to come back. It was Favre that couldn't get off the fence, and, after the second straight year of being held hostage by his unwillingness to make a decision, they moved on. It's not as if they didn't want Favre back, and it's not as if they didn't give him the opportunity to come back, clearly evidenced by the fact that, even after his first bout of indecision, they still had him back as their qb.

I hate the Packers and I hate Favre, both probably just as equally, but I just don't think you're right here.
