Racing NASCAR "Sell" Prices more than BV?

ranbethscards

NASCAR products are back baby!!!!! oh yeah!
:rant2: :rant2: :rant2:

I've been watching other sites and eBay, and noticing that NASCAR Autographs and Race-Used are so overpriced that they make the Beckett BVs look good!

Example:

Check out Trevor Bayne 2012 Showcase Prized Pieces Ink #/50.

It currently has a BV of $30.00

On the bay they are going for close to BV PLUS shipping!

One is listed at $20.00 (auction) with $2.00 shipping (plain swatch).

One is listed at 28.99 (Buy-It-Now) with $2.99 shipping (plain swatch). :headbang:

The craziest pricing I see is on another site, where it is a patch swatch (although the patch is NOT identifiable) and #21 (his car number)... the guy is asking for $55.00! :facepalm2:

I remember years ago when "premium" card BVs were determined using a "multiplier", but that was 1.5 at the max! So that would put the patch swatch card at $45.00... and that would be for a STAR.

I guess the prices for hobby boxes are so high, people have gone back to using a multiplier to help recoup some of the money they lost?

Guess it's true what they said in the movie Wall Street... "greed, for lack of a better word, is good..." :e:

Sellers can ask whatever they want for something. It doesn't mean that anyone is gonna pay that amount. I watch the Showcase stuff every week, because it's my favorite set/sets, and there are a few cards I like that are listed very high at the same price over, and over, and I'm waiting for them to lower it, if they ever do? I can wait. I don't even look at the BV any more. I know by the set, and driver, and completed auctions, what a card should sell for, and if it's in my affordable range, I go for it. If it goes higher, then I look for the next one. Multi-color patches will always sell for more, so I don't need Beckett to tell me that. If a card is listed higher than Beckett, it can mean many things. The seller may think it's guided too low, and quite often it is. It can also mean the card has continued to sell higher than BV high, so they're just listing it at the price it should be. It's not like Beckett will ever correct their pricing if it's out of whack.
