Baseball MLB Trade Deadline thread hosted by me!

I'm hearing that SP Roy Halladay & RP Heath Bell did not get traded. Toronto is a loser at the trade deadline clearly.

Jake Peavy to White Sox?

Clayton Richard among 4 prospects going to San Diego for SP Jake Peavy. This just leaped the White Sox's back into the wild card.

According to MLB.com's Corey Brock, the Padres have dealt injured ace Jake Peavy to the White Sox for left-handers Aaron Poreda and Clayton Richard, and right-handers Adam Russell and Dexter Carter.

Leave it to White Sox GM Kenny Williams to sit quietly during the weeks leading up to the trade deadline, only to make a major splash in the final seconds. Poreda was in the original deal that Peavy vetoed back in May, but Richard was not. So it seems the San Diego ace only sweetened the Padres' haul by rejecting the initial proposal. Peavy signed off on the deal this time. Jul. 31 - 4:30 pm et

Peavy is on the DL and has a big contract.

From an article I read.

As of this afternoon, Jackson was second in the AL in ERA. Washburn was third. Verlander was seventh. And among pitchers on potential AL playoff teams, they were Nos. 1, 2, and 3.

Is he going to come off the DL anytime soon? If so he could help them down the stretch, would have to be better than in San Diego i would think.
