Kimbo Slice to compete on UFC's 'The Ultimate Fighter 10'

When EliteXC folded months ago, UFC president Dana White had publicly stated that the only way EliteXC heavyweight Kimbo Slice would get a shot in the UFC was if he wanted to compete as a cast member on the UFC's flagship show, The Ultimate Fighter.

Well, according to Kevin Iole of Yahoo.com, that's exactly what's about to happen. Dana White has reportedly confirmed that Kimbo will appear as a cast member on Spike TV's The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights, which is set to begin filming shortly and will feature former UFC light heavyweight champions Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Rashad Evans as competing coaches.

One big change in the 10th season of the UFC's reality show competition is that the 16 competitors on The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights will not have to fight in order to secure a spot in the house like in previous seasons. This move could have been made to guarantee that Slice will not be forced to fight early and will kept around to help increase ratings as much as possible.

Slice hasn't fought in MMA competition since the last EliteXC show in October. He was scheduled to face Ken Shamrock in the main event on the card, however Shamrock was cut during training and was forced out of the bout. EliteXC officials then scrambled to replace Shamrock and ended up choosing relative unknown Seth Petruzelli. Petruzelli then proceeded to knock Kimbo out in front of a record 6.5 million viewers in just a matter of seconds.

The UFC is set to announce Slice's appearance at a media day on Tuesday at the UFC Training Center in Las Vegas.

Petruzelli made him look stupid, but I have a feeling he's gonna lead to some good TV. The UFC needs to try and bring in Michael Westbrook, since they're giving chances to all of these former NFL stars. His ground and pound skills are Tito Ortiz-esque

haha i didnt think this was gonna happen...i heard dana white on the dan patrick show a few weeks ago, and dan asked him about it. dana said that the ONLY way kimbo would EVER fight in the ufc is if he came up through the ultimate fighter, but i didnt think kimbo would actually go for it...i think he has a decent shot on the fear factor alone. i mean, youre an unheralded fighter trying to make a name for yourself, and you step in the octagon with one of the baddest looking dudes on the planet, a guy you've been watching knock people around in street fights on youtube for the last few years...that's at least slightly intimidating, right?

Somewhat true, but it didn't exactly work too well for Tank Abbot once he actually started fighting guys who had actual skill and weren't just brawlers. Kimbo HAS to learn how to do something other than punch people in the face if he wants to be a successful MMA fighter.
