From Yahoo Sports:

NEW YORK (AP) Johan Santana pitched the first no-hitter in New York Mets' history, helped by an umpire's missed call and an outstanding catch in left field in an 8-0 victory over St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night.

After a string of close calls in their 51-season history, Santana finally finished the job in the Mets' 8,020nd game since the team was born in 1962.

The rest of the story: Santana pitches first no-hitter in Mets' history!

Always liked this guy. He's been one heck of a pitcher over his career. Still, I find it hard to believe that the Mets have never had a no-no pitched in their entire history.

and just think....they had Nolan Ryan early in his career.....If they had just held on to him it wouldn't have taken so friggin' long! :facepalm2:

They also had Seaver, Gooden, Humber and Mike Scott who all went on to throw a no-hitter for other teams. Thank you, Johan!

.....and David Cone who had a perfect game.

All I can say is "it's about damn time!" and a nice welcome back present for Josh Thole. Us Mets fans have alot of reasons to smile this year................for once.
