Baseball Is Roy Halladay a Hall of Famer?

He's the only guy that eats a lot of innings during the season & has many complete games under his belt. He would be in if he wasn't on a bad team like the Blue Jays, but he would be in the Hall of Very Good.;)

Outside of the CG's, his numbers aren't that great. He only has 122 wins as of today - that's not even close to HOF numbers, especially when you consider some of the pitchers that haven't made it yet. If he can another 10 years averaging 15 W's a year, then he might be a fringe HOF'er.

That's the point that I was touching on a little bit. He has 122 wins on a team that has fought for third place in their division every year that he has played. If he was on, let's say the LA Angels, he would probably have over 150 wins, agree?

I think he's got a shot. He is a pitcher in an age where pitchers now go 5 or 6 innings and he constantly goes 8 or 9 and racks up CG. I think he has many years left in him and if he can get to 250 wins which is reachable, he should probably get in since by the time he retires 250 might be the new 300.

You make it sound as though 300 wins is a very simple thing to do. You do realize he is 31 years old and is currently in his 11th season? And he has a history of injuries? Don't get me wrong - he's very good, one of the best in the game. HOF? No way. He's kind of like Glavine - who 30+ more games at the same stage of their careers. Glavine has only won approx. 130 games since he was 31 - and as I mentioned above, if Halladay goes 10 more years averaging 15 wins, that will only put him at around 275-280 wins - 25 less than Glavine has right now, and that would put Halladay at 41 years. Pitching the amount of innings he does, that is going to be very difficult, and will leave him well shy of 300 wins. Assuming by then 250 may be the new 300 as Johan alluded to, it's a possibility, but the PROBABILITY is still mighty slim. Also as I mentioned earlier, look at Bert Blyleven's numbers - 287 wins, 3700 K's (5th all-time, and Halladay is not a strikeout pitcher), a no-hitter, and 2 rings, and he's not in.
