I don't get it. Rickey Henderson Mets New Hitting Coach?

So Rickey Henderson was named hitting coach for the Mets today. Yet, the article states:

Rickey Henderson is in place to help invigorate the offense, though Howard Johnson and not Henderson will assume most or all of Down's responsibilities.

OK, so Hojo will be doing most of the work. Then later in the article:

Still undetermined is whether Henderson will coach first base, and how much he will work with the hitters.

How can you have a hitting coach that doesn't work with the hitters? To sum up:

1) Henderson named Hitting Coach
2) Hojo will do most of the work
3) Mets have yet to determine how much their new "Hitting Coach" will work with the hitters.
