Hot Box of Gridiron Gear

most of us here collect crappy players...

i think the guys here may have some of the best collections in the market today or have once had...2 or 3 of us were in beckett footballs top 10...

the thing about boxes is a risk though, not every box will produce cards that sell for $100 even if they cost $100...alot of times you drop $100 you get 2-3 jerseys of no one special and an offensive lineman autograph, so when you get a box that has 8 jerseys you are kinda happy about it because it could have been worse and 4 out of 5 times you could find a better deal getting singles on ebay...does that mean that everyone buys singles?...no, some people enjoy ripping for the sake of ripping

(Coming from an offensive tackle)....What's wrong with pulling one of those?!?! Huh?! You got a problem with fat guys?! HATER!!!!!!

The members here know what is worth money and what isn't. It's more about what people like and what people collect than about money. If someone were to pull a $2 card of a player they really liked everyone would be happy for them. Not say, "That's worthless." Maybe it is to some card collector on ebay but to someone who loves that team or player it is priceless. If you can't see that then I'm not sure what to say.

As for opening packs, its nice to pull something to make your money back on the box or even a profit but that is not what you buy boxes for. It's fun to rip packs. If you think you can make money doing it then your wrong. nycballa bought a box expecting 3 or 4 hits, whatever that product has, and ended up getting a hot box, which had to be exciting for him. He came to share here and you just dump on him. Not right. It's not always about the money.

:salut::salut::salut: Thats why I like Topps Total!

Honestly, I know I don't rip boxes to make my money back. If you do that, you're only going to make your money back on the box about 10% of the time, if that. The joy is in opening the packs man.

Is there anything wrong with collecting guys that never will be valuable in terms of monetary value? Absolutely not, I don't know many collectors that don't collect a few favorite guys they have ties to or enjoy watching in college, etc... that will never be a Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.

However, if that type of player is one of my best pulls out of a $100 box, and I get some scrub auto along with it and one good jersey card along with average jerseys that are worth $5 or less, I would be disappointed. That and the fact that I have yet to see a decent box come from the Gridiron Gear hot boxes is why I said I would have been disappointed, that is all.

edited to take any negative response to b70x7n's immaturity level, not worth it, just stick to the pictures

and if you can't read two paragraphs b70x7n, then you should probably just check out the pictures of cards. I don't own the Troy Smith, doing that hard task of reading would have filled you in. Again, you should stick to looking at the pictures if you are that immature or lazy.

b7ox7oxenfart7 or w/e always has sand in his crack for some reason.

I think I got a very decent hot box myself. Check my thread in the by the box forum for yourself. Its always fun to pull more than the expected number of hits, so even if you dont get a decent hot box, you still have 8+ hits for trade bait or freebies.

For a minute there I thought I hit the wrong bookmark , who the hell is that guy ? Hey Brownies where's that Walter ?

No. That was quite possibly the worst break I have ever seen in all my years of collecting. You should be ashamed of even posting it. Get a clue man. I'd have put a gun in my mouth after that break....

ok I stopped reading right there:cheers:

Shoot I love to make my money back on a box but the chances of that are slim to none so why not pull a PC card or something like a hot box, always fun:dance:
