O's may fit as third team in Peavy deal | padres.com: News
To keep it simple, I understood that this 3 team deal can occur:
Cubs acquire P Garrett Olsen from Baltimore for OF Felix Pie
Cubs then package Olsen in trade with other prospects to Padres for P Jake Peavy
That gives the Cubs 7 starters according to Piniella (Zambrano, Dempster, Harden, Marquis, Lilly, and Marshall the others), but Marshall could be dealt to KC for 3B/OF Mark Teahen.
If I was in Hendry's shoes, I would try to trade Jason Marquis for a 2B/SS type player to upgrade over Cedeno/Theriot (i.e. Cristian Guzman of the Nats) and go ahead and keep Marshall or acquire Peavy.
What do you guys/gals think?
