Giants-Pats Game Thread

Listening to Gumbel is like listening to a dying chicken being strangled by a coked-out goose.

Honestly tho... WHAT was up with the clock management at the end of that game???? That made some of Holmgren's flubs look halfway decent. Down two scores with a little over 2:30 to go, and Eli is sauntering up to the line as iff it were the middle of the third quarter??? Several plays IN BOUNDS??? When the did get the score, only a min left, so bad on-sides kick or not, they just basically handed that to the Pats.

Hey Rob, I pulled an Eli Manning jersey card the other day, if you'd like to burn it in effigy, I'll send it to you ;) I know up to that point, he had a great game, but still....

Go Giants!

Hope the Pats fail to break at least a few of the records that they "suppossedly" care so little about :roll:

$20 says they go 4 and 5 wides til Randy and Brady get their records

Not quite ;)
Was glad to see the record breakers come on a play that was as big as any play all year.

Some Giants fans were happy with the effort and all that but I'm not. I didn't want them to play their starters and here is why:

Rookie S Craig Dahl is done for the season with an injury to the ACL in his left knee. The preliminary diagnosis on C Shaun O’Hara and LB Kawika Mitchell is that they suffered only sprained MCLs, so they have a chance to be ready for the playoffs, as does CB Sam Madison, who suffered an abdominal strain.

Great, 3 starters may be out for next week to play a meaningless game. It pisses me off and if you are going to play the starters and get close then WIN THE GAME.

Also, thought that the officiating was horrible. Reminded me of the Ravens game.

They were holding the crap out of Strahan and Osi and no calls. One third down in the 4th quarter Osi was TACKLED and no call was made. Two Pats fans next to me saw it and made the following Pat-Fan statement, "I've noticed they haven't been calling those types of holding penalties as much this year." I said, "Really? Maybe it's cause you only watch Pats games."

The illegal contact call was terrible and if anything the WR pushed off with his forearm when he made his cut. That probably happens 10 times a game on both sides of the ball and they all of sudden choose to call it when Brady gets sacked on 3rd and 14. They scored their only TD of the first half on that drive that should've been over.

Plax gets tackled in the end zone before the ball gets there and no call.

Moss slaps the CB to the ground to catch a TD and no call.

Wilfork pokes Jacobs in the eye and no call.

BUT they call a 15 yard personal foul penalty on Amani Toomer when a Patriot player falls to the ground on his own on the Giants sideline, that one was horrible.

Brady calls timeout a full second after the play clock ends and they give him the timeout. I watch that clock closely when I'm at the games because Eli let's it run to 1 every down. I was looking right t the clock and screamed "FLAG!" looked back in the backfield and Brady turned towards the ref and calls timeout.

Call it sour grapes or whatever cause the Giants lost. One or two calls made in the Pats favor, OK, I can handle that but 7 or 8 can't be ignored.

I know... :boohoo::boohoo::boohoo:

For the starters thing...they are paid to play 16 games and the coaches are paid to coach 16 games, so they'll play 16 games. They love what they do and the Giants players were all happy for the opportunity to play during the week leading up.

As for officiating, it goes both ways. There was no call when one of the Giants DEs rushed by Brady and hit him directly in the head. And Plax had no problem initiating contact with the DB multiple times. The delay of game thing....weak, I agree, but no matter who the QB is they give them the timeout 9 times out of 10. Hell, I remember Kyle Boller getting a timeout like that against the Pats, and no one would accuse a ref of favoring him.
One thing we can agree on...the illegal contact was a gift to the Pats. But it wasn't the refs fault the Giants secondary let Moss get behind them two plays in a row. The refs can occasionally make a difference on a drive or two, but when it comes down to it, football games are decided on execution. In the 4th quarter, the Giants didn't execute well enough to win.

Also, if I posted what Rob said after a Pats loss, I'd get flamed for being a homer. But instead I'm trying to have an intelligent, un-biased conversation. Take notes.

About the playing 16 games crap, you say they should play but yet you start a thread wondering why Wayne is still in the game? Plus, I don't agree. There was no need for the Giants to play their starters past the first quarter. None. Now they risk not advancing in the playoffs because one of their best linemen, their second best LB and, sad to say, probably their best DB in Madison amy not play.

Call me a homer or whatever but I was with Pats fans who agreed. You agree that the one call was BS so the score should've been 21-9 at halftime, which could've changed the entire outcome of the game. Each call or non-call has it's own individual effect on the game and they add up quickly, especially when it comes to momentum. As I said, 1 or 2 don't make a huge difference but all together can change a game.

Bottom line is the Pats get preferential treatment from the refs. They are the Michael Jordan of the NFL.

:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

Yes, I got a chance to go to the Wachovia sky box. It is in the Mezz level on the 45 yard line and on the other side of the glass from us was Gumble and Collinsworth and their crew, two people I can't stand. Collinsworth is usually very anti-giants.
