ESPN - Cubs trade four players to A's for pitchers Harden, Gaudin - MLB

The Cubs retaliated the CC Sabathia trade yesterday by acquiring P's Rich Harden and Chad Gaudin for four different up-and-coming players: INF/OF Eric Patterson, OF Matt Murton, P Sean Gallagher, and C Josh Donaldson.

The Cubs lost no replaceable players in this deal, got the best available starter on the market according to their view, & got Chad Gaudin as an insurance starter. I like this deal for CHC now, but Gallagher should show up as a middle rotation starter this year.

NOTE: Chad Gaudin was a rookie in 2004 with the now named Tampa Bay Rays, with current Cubs manager Lou Piniella was managing the club.

I think it was a good deal for the Cubs as Rich Harden is a solid pitcher when he's healthy!
