The Philadelphia Eagles have begun negotiations for a contract extension with coach Andy Reid.
"Andy [Reid] and Jeff [Lurie, the Eagles owner] and Joe [Banner, the team president] have a very close relationship and they want that to continue," said Reid's agent Bob LaMonte, who would not confirm that negotiations have begun.
"There is no timetable," LaMonte said.
Asked if Reid wanted to stay on long-term as Eagles head coach, LaMonte replied "yes."
"He's told me he loves Philadelphia and wants to stay," LaMonte said.
Reid is in his 11th season and his contract expires at the end of the 2010 season. So if the Eagles are going to work out a contract, "now would be the time to do it, because Andy does not want to be a lame duck in 2010," said a source with knowledge of the discussions between Reid and the Eagles.
On Sunday, Reid goes for his 100th win when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers visit Lincoln Financial Field.
