The Boston Bruins on Thursday signed backup goaltender Tuukka Rask to a two-year contract extension through the 2011-12 season. Terms were not released.

The 22-year-old Rask has played in four games with the Bruins this season and has a 2-1-1 record, a .920 save percentage and has surrendered an average of 2.41 goals per game. Most recently, he registered his second shutout in eight career starts by blanking the Oilers on Oct. 31.

After spending the last two seasons with the Providence Bruins, Rask was awarded the primary backup job this season. Earlier this year, Boston re-signed starting goalie Tim Thomas to a four-year contract.
