ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP)—Moving to quell rumors, Denver coach Josh McDaniels said Wednesday the team had not held any talks involving a trade of suspended Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall(notes).

“We’re looking forward to having Brandon back on Sept. 6 and starting our preparations for Cincinnati with him,” McDaniels said. “There’s no discussions whatsoever taking place between the Denver Broncos and any team in the NFL regarding Brandon Marshall.”

There were reports the New York Jets would be interested in trading for him.

McDaniels suspended Marshall for the rest of the preseason last Friday for detrimental conduct stemming for insubordinate actions during a practice.

Marshall, who has participated in only a handful of practices during the offseason, has clashed with the organization since the team rebuffed his overtures for a new contract and did not act on his request for a trade.

The end of his suspension coincides with the Broncos’ week of preparations for their Sept. 13 opener at Cincinnati.

Why they traded away the guy that could get the ball to him they may as well trade him too, McDaniels is proving to be a great big mistake for the Bronco's but he coached under Bellichick so it's not suprising.

Marshall reinstated, eligible for Broncos' opener

The Denver Broncos reinstated Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall from a team-imposed suspension Sunday.

Marshall was suspended Aug. 28 after a series of behaviors detrimental to the team. The final straw came when a Denver television station filmed Marshall walking when his teammates were running, punting a football in protest and swatting away balls during a passing frill during practice Aug. 26.

Marshall has asked for a pay raise and to be traded this summer. He missed more than a week with a hamstring injury and he was demoted to the scout team. Marshall said he didn't know new Denver coach Josh McDaniels' playbook even after he practiced several days.

The Broncos have quietly maintained that they would rather keep Marshall for this season than trade him. When he was suspended, the team said he would be eligible to come off suspension Sunday if his behavior improved.

Marshall is now eligible to play in Denver's season opener Sept.13 at Cincinnati. He did not play in any preseason game this season.

Marshall, Broncos talk new deal

Despite their stormy relationship, the Denver Broncos are now exploring the possibility of giving a contract extension to wide receiver Brandon Marshall.

The potential new deal would put Marshall's salary more in line with some of the game's other highly-paid receivers.

Due to the fact he has been unable to get a long-term deal, Marshall has been clinging to the hopes that Denver would deal him. But now, in a new approach, the deal Denver might make is not for Marshall, but rather with Marshall.

The fact that they are even talking is an encouraging sign, sources said, and there is some optimism that a deal could be struck that could keep Marshall in Denver long term.
