Chicago Blackhawks forward Adam Burish will undergo knee surgery after tearing his ACL during a game on Sunday night against the Minnesota Wild. He is expected to miss six months.

"Adam Burish went into the boards on Sunday night in Minnesota and injured his right knee," team physician Michael Terry said in a statement. "When a player like him leaves the ice, it is always concerning and unfortunately he suffered an ACL tear.

"He will undergo a reconstruction as soon as possible and we anticipate a complete recovery. His return will take approximately six months."

Burish is one of the Hawks' toughest players and has been a key player on penalty-killing units. He scored six goals and nine points in 66 regular-season games last season.
