awbern fans in meltdown mode right now

I am sure our group roadrtip will be to Auburn for that game in 2010. I would love to check it out since I hear Auburn is Clemson without a lake.

You have to look bigger picture than that. In the grand scheme of things, the UCLA game is meaningless (since you play Clemson a month later), except that you are going to get much more banged up (win or lose), and if you lose, you start out 0-1. Honestly, who is going to get hyped up over that game anyway? Clemson is twice the program that UCLA is.

When looking at the big picture, wouldn't you say that playing a major team on national tv right smack dab in the middle of a recruiting hot bed would be impressive to potential recruits?

BTW............I'm not too sure it's the UCLA side that would deter some people from getting hyped about the game :shifty:

Sure it would be impressive, but playing that single game isn't going miraculously to result in a windfall of recruits pouring into Auburn on signing day. The negatives outweigh the positives.

Kind of like how playing that game won't automatically cause a disastrous season filled with nothing but injuries and losses, right:)

Yeah, Atlanta is a hell of a drive from the plains! Horrible for the players who would be playing on national TV too. Good thing the economy won't be hurt since 45,000 people will flock to the stadium to see that great game against UTC!

Passing up a lot of tv money, national exposure, and a nice trip and exciting game for the players and fans doesn't make sense. Worrying about the economic impact for the town because of "only" 7 home games doesn't seem to be the best way to look at things. JMO.

^^^ Hasn't seen Georgia's schedule the past two seasons.

^^^ Doesn't get the economy of Athens will end up in shambles due to the lack of home games. Restaurants, hotels, gas stations, and bars will be boarded up in a matter of weeks. Furthermore, does not realize that players could get injured in the tough games.

Georgia is only averaging 6.5 home games as of late (sharing revenue wise) i read, auburnis worried about not playing 8 home games :D..... Oregon plays 6 or 7 home games depending on civil war (if at osu we have 6 home games, if host civil war play 7 home games).

SEC Nat'l Champ Non-Conf schedules since 1992. Draw your own conclusions.

1992 Alabama: So Miss, La Tech, Tulane
1996 Florida: SW Louisiana, Ga Southern, FSU (loss)
1998 Tennessee: Wyoming, Memphis, Notre Dame
2003 LSU: La-Monroe, Arizona, W. Illinois, La Tech
2006 Florida: So Miss, UCF, W. Carolina, FSU
2007 LSU: Va Tech, MTSU, Tulane, La Tech
2008 Florida: Hawaii, Miami, The Citadel, FSU

Winning is what matters. Not who you play.

^^^ Doesn't realize that UGA students get drunk every night of the week. The alcohol purchases and bar visits will keep Athen's economy in good standing.
