Basketball Allen target of threat, security boosted

Security around Tony Allen was increased on Thursday at the United Center after a Chicago man issued a death threat against the Boston Celtics guard, the Boston Globe and Yahoo! Sports reported on Thursday.

The Celtics and Bulls had extra security around their benches during Game 3 of a first round playoff series to keep an eye on Allen.

Sources told the Globe Allen had received threats in Chicago for some time now. A former Chicago Crane High star was also threatened prior to a March 17 game at Chicago. He didn't make the trip because of a thumb injury.

"It's a private team matter," Celtics president Rich Gotham told Yahoo! Sports. "It's just not something that we are going to talk about."

The NBA also declined comment to Yahoo! Sports.

Boston Herald reports that his troubles are connected to a fatal shooting last summer & Allen allegedly has incurred a large financial debt to someone in Chicago and is refusing to pay it back

With the money Allen makes, he should pay his debt back. I dont care for Allen, but to put his team mates in harms way is another thing.
