Upper Deck’s 2008 MLB A Piece of History™ Release
Includes Autographed ‘Box Score Memories’ Memorabilia Cards
Highly sought-after launch also includes Hollywood memorabilia cards
and ultra-rare ‘Jersey Button’ parallels numbered to five!
North Las Vegas, NV (July 3, 2008) – Like it does every MLB season, the Upper Deck Company has hit another home run with its most recent baseball trading card launch: 2008 MLB A Piece of History™. Besides boasting incredible inserts ranging from autographed and multi-swatch baseball memorabilia cards to informative “Historical Moments” cards, Upper Deck has included “A Piece of Hollywood” memorabilia cards that feature actual clothing swatches worn by top-notch actors in some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters.
“Our MLB A Piece of History release has a plethora of cool cards waiting for some lucky collectors to find,” said Jason Masherah, Upper Deck’s senior manager of sports brands. “We really pulled out all the stops with this one and ‘A Piece of Hollywood’ cards will no doubt raise some attention.”
Dozens of different versions of “A Piece of Hollywood” memorabilia cards are sprinkled into the mix in varying degrees. Some of those headliners include memorabilia from the stars of movies like “G.I. Jane,” “Spy Game,” “Ray,” “Wayne’s World” and “A Few Good Men.” These highly sought-after inserts pack out at a ratio of one per hobby box.
Another interesting element to this year’s release is the inclusion of extremely enlightening “Historical Moments” cards that reveal the origin of such topics as the Civil Rights Act (1964); Paul Revere’s memorable horse ride from Boston to Lexington (1775); the polio vaccine (1955); the Hindenburg tragedy (1937); and the Statue of Liberty’s arrival in New York Harbor (1886).
Getting back to matters of baseball, Upper Deck has included ultra-rare game-used jersey button cards (numbered to five); “Rookie Autographs” (numbered to 499 and parallels numbered to 99 or less); “Franchise History,” “Stadium Scenes” and “Box Score Memories” insert cards (numbered to 699, as well as parallels numbered to 149 or less); and “Yankee Stadium Legacy” memorabilia cards (averaging one per case).
Upper Deck’s 2008 MLB A Piece of History carries a suggested retail price of $4.99 per eight-card pack with 16 packs per box. The product is in stores now.
