    Rookie Cards Thread

Yup, I have the '65. What I'm looking for is a Japanese issued card. I've got a small but cool collection of those. Lots of fun to collect. Anyone interested in a new challenge or just collecting baseball card books should find a copy of this one. I've seen it for maybe a couple of bucks on Amazon.

    Rookie Cards Thread

He was a big deal for a short while back when he broke in over here. I've been trying for a long time to add one of his Japanese cards to my collection of them but I can't find one for a decent price. For as long as he pitched there and as popular as he was I'd have thought that there would be...

    The Blog Thread

Good idea I have two, Both are linked in my sig below. But I'll do it here, too. My '59 Topps blog is exactly that. I'm posting a 1959 Topps baseball card 3 to 4 times a week. I try to give a brief (sometimes very brief) bio of the player or at least mention highlights and I link to pages of...

    Some National's Pick ups

Very nice. Bobby Hull was well known for his signing habits. You'd see him after games at MSG standing at the front of the teams' bus signing for everyone who wanted one while the rest of the team sat inside the bus and waited.

    Rookie Cards Thread

I'm glad the vintage stuff is welcome here. And I'm learning about some of the newer issues. I'm in the process of upgrading some of the lesser conditioned cards in my '59 set. Almost all of them now are at least fair and the vast majority would be VG or Excellent if I was collecting graded...

    Panini is going patch crazy!

Cool cards, the Black Hawk logo is one of the iconic symbols in sports. Nube question... why is an upcoming set labeled 2011-2012?

    Rookie Cards Thread

OK, maybe this isn't a new shiny one, But it IS a rookie. And it's one that was new to me in 1959. I built my '59 set card by card a few years ago and this Bob Gibson Rookie is the only one that comes from my childhood collecting days. Love the pink frame, I even love the dings and tape stains...

    Sandy Koufax

You can get some of the League Leader cards he appeared on cheaper than his base cards. And check for his 2012 A&G I think it's really nice. Another quote from a post of mine:

    Sandy Koufax

Christian, I have a Koufax collection, he's probably my favorite non-Oriole player. I featured his 1959 Topps card here on my '59 blog. One of the best baseball books I've ever read is this one. I wrote about the book on in a different blog post. I'll quote myself: I am not plugging my blog...

    1906 Fan Craze

Mike, I had heard them referred to from time to time but I knew next to nothing about them either. I've got about ten early century sets as 'saved searches' on eBay and every once in awhile I'll just poke through them hoping for a bargain to pop up. I've seen these going for much more than I...

    1906 Fan Craze

I'm glad to see that vintage cards are appreciated. I lurk in a vintage forum elsewhere and those guys are kind of snobby. This place is very welcoming.

    1906 Fan Craze

This arrived today. An eBay win. 1906 Fan Craze Irv Young. He pitched from 1905-1911, mostly for Boston of the N.L. He holds the post 1900 record for the most wins in a season by a pitcher with a below .550 record. He went 20-21 in 1905. It's in super condition, looks even better than my scan...

August 2012 Card of The Month

Mike, a question or two, please. Would a retail pack pull be considered 'purchased'? I know that sounds dumb on the surface but when I say I 'bought' a card I would be referring to one I specifically bought, at a show, Check Out My Cards, etc. Is an eBay win via auction a 'bought' card? This...

    Late to the party...

Mike, it's football only. Many of the guys have been in it since the beginning, or close to it. We've known each other since our college days way back when so it's a good way to keep in touch. I won't hold your Cowboy-ishness against you. Have you tried therapy? :flapper: And as for 'stuff'...
