Upper Deck released details for its 2010 Exquisite Collection baseball cards on Thursday — a multi-product insert line that will be limited, high-end and loaded with autographs and memorabilia.
Exquisite, which will be found in every Upper Deck baseball product next year, will consist of a 100-card base set with just 75 total copies per card with a lineup that includes retired players as well as present stars.
The “Exquisite Rookie Signature” cards will feature 20 cards that are each signed on-card.
The “Exquisite Autograph Patch Rookie” cards will include a 1.5” x1.5” patch swatch and these six cards will have a print run of just 99 copies.
“Exquisite collectors are extremely passionate about the brand as they know it is the most premium line of cards in the market,” said Jason Masherah, director of sports brands for Upper Deck, in a release. “We are thrilled to be able to bring this high-end brand of cards to every level of collector purchasing Upper Deck 2010 baseball products in the hobby. These are the kind of cards that have collectors’ hands trembling when they are pulled, and that’s a lot of fun to see and the type of experience that only Upper Deck can provide.”
Also on tap are “Legendary Numbers” and “Legendary Initials” inserts that will include as many as six swatches of memorabilia. Upper Deck will create signed and cut signature variations of these as well.
The “Exquisite Rare Materials” inserts will feature tags and logo patches from game-used memorabilia from all the top rookies and stars. The “Endorsement Signature” set will include up to four signatures per card.
Also upcoming is “UD Champions,” which includes on-card signatures and autographed patch cards of Upper Deck spokesmen like Derek Jeter, Michael Jordan and Wayne Gretzky. There will be single, double and triple versions of these cards.
Upper Deck Series 1 arrives in late February with the base cards, while 2010 SPx Baseball will patch cards. The autographs will arrive in April with 2010 SP Authentic Baseball.
