NEW YORK (SI.com) -- Former UCLA men's basketball coach John Wooden was being treated Thursday at UCLA Medical Center, according to a broadcast report.

KCAL9/CBS2 reported that Wooden, 99, was in "grave" condition after being hospitalized Sunday and he has refused to eat for the past couple of days.

A UCLA spokesman could not immediately confirm the report.

Wooden, known as "The Wizard of Westwood," coached the Bruins to an unprecedented 10 NCAA championships in his last 12 seasons, winning a record seven consecutively from 1967 to 1973.

During his time at UCLA, Wooden provided guidance for future NBA talent such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Walton, Keith Wilkes, Sidney Wicks and Marques Johnson.

He was the first person to become a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player and coach. He amassed 620 victories and his teams won 19 conference championships during his tenure.
