The Detroit Pistons have added a veteran NBA coach to help their rookie on the bench.

The Pistons said Monday they have hired Brian Hill to work as an assistant coach on John Kuester's first staff as an NBA head coach.

Hill's 36-year career includes leading the Orlando Magic to the 1995 NBA Finals and being the Vancouver Grizzlies' first coach. Hill, who is from East Orange, N.J., was on the New Jersey Nets' staff the past two seasons.

Kuester is a former Cleveland Cavaliers assistant. He is the sixth Pistons head coach in the past 10 years.
