Racing NASCAR Rookie of the Year

The Rookie of the Year (ROTY) Award is basically down to two drivers... Ricky Stenhouse Jr and Danica Patrick.

Who is currently the points leader for ROTY? Stenhouse, by about 10 points (depends on which news agency you want to believe... some have him leading by 10, but I have seen his lead reported as high as 15 points).

... and a little known fact:

During the final weekend of the season, a Rookie of the Year panel meets and rewards favorable conduct in the following categories: Conduct with NASCAR officials in the garage and pit areas; conduct and awareness on track; personal appearance and relationship with the media. The panel rates each driver, with scoring ranging from a maximum of 10 to a minimum of 1. Total points will be averaged from each panel member's ballot. The points derived from the panel will be added to the entry, competition, and bonus points after the final race of the season to determine the overall Rookie of the Year winner.

What does that mean? That Danica can steal the Rookie of the Year award.

During the regular season Danica had a "best" finish of 8th, while Stenhouse had a "best" finish of 10th. And when it comes to the "personal appearance and relationship with the media", Danica easily wins hands down.

Who do you think Nascar wants to win, to promote their brand? Who draws the most fans? I'd be completely shocked if Stenhouse Jr wins, no mattr how much he's ahead in on track points. He's Danica's boyfriend, so he wins no matter how it turns out, lol.
