Jeff Gordon says his back is still bothering him and the four-time series champion had an MRI this week.
Gordon says doctors found a bit of arthritis and possible trauma from past racing accidents. But he says he's not ready to reveal any more details about his back until a proper treatment plan has been set.
At this point, Gordon says he doesn't believe the problem is too serious.
His back bothered him through last year's winless season, but Gordon did not publicly reveal the problem until this year. He's been working with a trainer in an effort to properly stretch before and after races, but has still been plagued with pain.
Gordon plans to race Saturday at the Richmond International Raceway.
