Tarvaris Jackson took the field for Minnesota's first training camp practice, forgetting as much as he could about Brett Favre.

Jackson was the quarterback with the first team while the Vikings worked out in helmets, shoulder pads and shorts Friday morning at the Minnesota State University campus in Mankato. When Favre told the team he wasn't coming, the competition returned to Jackson and Sage Rosenfels.

Jackson says he doesn't see this as his job to lose, calling the contest "50-50." He finished last season as the starter, playing well in December but struggling in a first-round playoff loss.

Jackson says friends who called him after the Favre news were surprised he didn't sound happier. He says he learned not to worry about the situation.
